The Ford Expedition has been popular among SUV enthusiasts for its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and powerful engine. The 2023 model takes these features to the next level, making it a true powerhouse among large three-row SUVs. The Expedition is perfect for families, adventurers, and commuters, with a choice of models to meet any needs.

One of the most impressive features of the 2023 Ford Expedition is its performance. The SUV is powered by a robust V6 engine that delivers ample power and torque, allowing it to tow heavy loads and traverse challenging terrain. In addition, the Expedition’s suspension system has been updated to provide a smooth ride on any surface, while its four-wheel drive system ensures maximum traction and control in challenging conditions.

In addition to its performance capabilities, the base model is well-equipped with features such as a rearview camera, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a touchscreen infotainment system. The XLT model adds more amenities, such as power-adjustable front seats and satellite radio. Finally, for those looking for a luxury experience, the Limited and Platinum trims offer premium features such as leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium sound system.

A few updates for the 2023 model year include a new Iconic Silver exterior color option for Platinum models. Other color-related changes are black-painted fog lamp bezels for Special Edition models and a black onyx interior color combo for Timberlines. In addition, the Timberline model also comes standard with a Trail 1 Pedal Drive feature.

Models/Price: The 2023 Ford Expedition is available in six trims: XL ($55,606), XLT ($59,445), Timberline ($70,867), Limited ($67,291), King Ranch ($80,560), and the Platinum edition ($84,305) MSRP.  Ford also offers the extended-length Expedition Max, which provides more cargo space than the standard model.

Power/Performance: The Ford Expedition Max has two engine options: a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 and a 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid six-cylinder. The EcoBoost V6 is the standard engine, offering 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 9,300 pounds. The PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 is a new addition to the Expedition Max lineup, offering 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. Again, it’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that provides smooth and responsive steering and can tow up to 9,200 pounds.

The PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 is an eco-friendly SUV option that offers impressive fuel economy, getting an estimated 24 miles per gallon in combined city/highway driving. It also provides a range of customizable driving modes, including Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, Eco, and Slippery.  However, it’s important to note that the PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 is only available on the Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum trim levels.

Regarding towing, the Ford Expedition Max comes with the standard EcoBoost V6 engine offering plenty of power, allowing the Expedition Max to accelerate quickly and handle well on the road. As a result, it is an excellent choice for towing large trailers or boats. The PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 takes things to the next level, offering even more power and torque. It’s also great for towing heavier loads or just everyday driving.

Features/Options: The XLT is the base model, while the Platinum is the top-of-the-line model. Each trim level offers unique features and benefits, including a 12-speaker audio system, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a rearview camera. It also offers optional features such as a power liftgate, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera system.

The Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum trim level build on these features, adding leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also offers optional features such as a hands-free liftgate, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker B&O audio system. In addition, all trim levels offer a variety of seating configurations, allowing you to customize your SUV to fit your needs.

The King Ranch trim level is a step up from the Limited, offering unique features such as a two-tone exterior paint job, a King Ranch-branded interior, and a 360-degree camera system. It also has a power moonroof, a heated steering wheel, and a navigation system. The Platinum trim level is the top-of-the-line model, offering all of the features from the previous trim levels, along with additional features such as a premium 20-speaker audio system, a rear-seat entertainment system, and adaptive cruise control.

Safety: Regarding safety ratings, the Expedition Max has the latest safety and driver-assist technologies. As a result, it has received high marks from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). In addition, it has received a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA and has been named a Top Safety Pick by the IIHS.
