It’s been a few years since the Iconic Toyota Supra sports car returned after a long hiatus from the US. In 2022 Supra adds a limited carbon fiber A91-CF Edition, standard heated seats, an upgraded interior, and Apple CarPlay to the lineup.
Only 600 A91-CF Edition models were built with a carbon-fiber body kit, rear spoiler, matte black 19-inch wheels, and red and black interior. The special edition offers three exterior colors: Phantom matte gray, Absolute Zero White, or Nitro Yellow.
Although the 2022 GR Supra is built in partnership with BMW and shares the same platform and engine with the BMW Z4 roadster, Toyota engineers tuned it with a Supra personality, which sports car enthusiasts have come to love.
Relaunched in 2019, the Supra is a nostalgic three-door engineered for enthusiasts who love speed and superior road performance. In 2021, Toyota added more horsepower and a new four-cylinder twin-turbo engine.
Power: The 2022 GR Supra offers a choice between two turbocharged engines – a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 255 horsepower or a 3.0-liter with 382 horsepower. Both are exhilarating, fun to drive, and can only be fully appreciated on a racetrack.
The Supra reflects characteristics of its former self but with the latest advanced technology and modern-day conveniences. It is faster and more fun to drive. The eight-speed transmission shifts smoothly, and the paddle shifters provide a sense of manual control. It has a start/stop that turns off in the Sports mode and activates a loud exhaust sound.
Models/Pricing: The 2022 GR Supra comes in four different trim levels that include: Supra 2.0 ($44,635), Supra 3.0 ($52,985), Supra 3.0 Premium ($56,135), or the A91-CF Edition ($64,375 MSRP).
Conceived and designed by Toyota’s Gazoo Racing motorsports program, the base four-cylinder GR Supra 2.0, which starts in the lower forties price range, generates 255 horsepower, and goes from 0-60 in 5.0 seconds.
Safety: Safety features include pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with steering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic clearance, and adaptive cruise control.
After lowering your head to get inside the cockpit of the two-seater, there’s an 8.8-inch touch screen, wireless smartphone charging, navigation, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and instead of Toyota’s Entune system, the Supra comes with BMW’s iDrive infotainment.
